Broadcast On The Internet With 2 Microphones

Mackie, Yamaha and Soundcraft are three popular manufacturers of mixing consoles.

If you would like to connect more than one microphone to your computer, you need to use a mixing console. Although both analog and USB microphones are available on the market, it is not possible to use the two at the same time. When using the mixing console, each microphone should occupy its own independent track, which allows you to control volume, equalization and other elements such as compression and gain, depending on your mixing console. Small mixing consoles with one to four channels are available both online and at most music stores.

Instructions

1. Connect the mixing console to the computer’s microphone jack using the quarter-inch to eighth-inch cable. Plug the eighth-inch cable into the computer’s microphone jack, and plug the quarter-inch cable into the mixer’s main output jack. Depending on your mixer, you may need to substitute the quarter-inch to eighth-inch cable for a RCA or XLR to eighth-inch cable.

2. Pull the master volume fader on the mixing console all the way down. Move the faders for each microphone to the "0dB" position.

3. Ensure that your computer speakers are turned up to a normal volume.

4. Connect each microphone to its own track on the mixer using the XLR cables.

5. Open your Internet broadcasting software. Open the preferences window and select "microphone" as the audio source.

6. Adjust the master volume on the mixing board to the desired level of the overall broadcast, and then adjust the volume levels of the individual microphones using their channel fader.
