Get Pregnant With Endometrosis

You can become pregnant if you have endometriosis.

According to the National Institute of Child Health and Human Development, endometriosis affects more than 5.5 million women in North America. Not only does the condition cause physical pain in these women, but it may also influence their chances of conceiving children.

Statistics

According to the Mayo Clinic, around 33 percent to 50 percent of women with endometriosis have difficulty conceiving.

Infertility

Some physicians suggest having unprotected intercourse for at least six months before undergoing infertility treatment.

Surgery

Your doctor may suggest surgery to increase your chances of becoming pregnant. One approach, laparoscopy, removes the scar tissue and endometrial growths from your reproductive organs.

Fertilization Treatments

Some women can become pregnant by undergoing in vitro fertilization, a procedure where the embryo is implanted in the uterus.

Warning

If you have endometriosis, discuss your desire to become pregnant with your physician. Certain medications (such as Danocrine) used to treat endometriosis may harm your unborn child.
