Funny Birthday Gifts For Older Women

Keep humorous gifts for older women tasteful.

For years, you've joked with your best friend or your sister about the gray hairs that pop up each passing year. She constantly likes to remind you she has youth on her side because you're two years older. Depending on the personality, as a woman gets older, she may have a certain sense of humor about it. When looking for a gift for a woman that embraces aging gracefully, consider humorous, good natured ones that also show her how much you appreciate her.

Music

Compile all her favorite songs the year she was born. For instance, if she was born in 1945, check online sites for CDs of artists of that decade like, The Andrew Sisters, Bing Crosby and Frank Sinatra. Pull her into modern times with an MP3 player. Download all the oldies but goodies like, "Dig You Later," by Perry Como and "My Dreams Are Getting Better All The Time," by Les Brown. Visit a vintage store that still carries vinyl records. Sift through the assortment and purchase records from her era. Present the nostalgic gift with a big red bow. She can reminisce about the "good ol' days."

Gift Baskets

Fill a gift basket with items like T-shirts and mugs. Personalize the items with sayings like, "Not getting older, getting better" or "Aging is for losers and I'm a winner." Order a gift basket with birth year items included. For instance, a 70th year gift basket includes items like a 1941 circulated coin set, a color booklet with facts from 1941, and a bag of retro candies that were popular that year (see Resources).

Photos

Gather all humorous photos taken over the years, including the picture from the costume party and the one of her in the taffeta prom dress. Include childhood photos and all her fashion flub images. Place the pictures into a photo album. Title the album with something humorous like, "Still Sexy After All These Years!" This idea works with a digital picture frame as well. For older pictures that may have some damage, have them restored. Scan them onto your computer and then download them onto the digital picture frame.

Gag Gifts

Purchase a wine bottle with a homemade label that states something like, "Age Gets Better With Wine." Give her a funny joke book about getting older. Add humorous stickers to any gift with sayings like, "Am I getting older or is the music in elevators getting better?" Purchase a gag novel with extra tiny print along with an oversized pair of bifocal glasses.
