Every year in the United States, approximately 5 million women and their partners are told they have infertility issues.
Some women and couples are not able to have children for various reasons. On top of that, they cannot afford the in vitro fertilization treatments available for infertile women and couples. Luckily, there are in vitro fertilization grants provided by organizations.
Embracing Hope Grant
The Embracing Hope Grants is sponsored through the Fertile Dreams Organization. As part of the application process, you will need to attach a short essay explaining your medical history regarding your infertility and your personal and financial situation. Couples are selected by a volunteer committee. You must be U.S. citizens. Fortunately, a woman can apply alone and already have children, but must be under the age of 40 when starting treatment. Three $10,000 grants are given each year to cover any costs directly related to the in vitro fertilization process.
InterNational Council for Infertility Information Dissemination (INCIID)
Eligibility starts with a $55 annual membership fee to the INCIID Community. This program is not a scholarship or grant program but is designed to assist individuals and couples by having professionals in the field donate time and facilities to perform in vitro fertilization. Preference is given to childless individuals and couples.
Tinina Q. Cade Family Building Grant
The Cade Foundation provides grants based on the amount of funds raised within a year. Grants are awarded up to $10,000 per individual or couple. Applicants must provide proof of infertility and U.S. citizenship.
Creating Miracles Grant
Angels of Hope in Morris, Illinois sponsor the Creating Miracles Grant. Candidates must be legally married and have adequate housing and means of taking care of their child. More importantly, potential parents must be clear of any infectious diseases, including alcohol and drug abuse. Preference will be given to candidates residing within 24 miles of the Morris, Illinois, area as measured on MapQuest, using 101 West Illinois Avenue as a starting point. Preference will also be given to couples without children. Criteria for the grant include having little no insurance, obvious financial need and no serious criminal background. Grants are distributed twice a year in April and September with deadlines on March 10 and August 31.
