Fund Raising Ideas For Band Boosters

School bands are used to energize the crowd and provide entertainment.

Fundraising for the band boosters is a way to earn money for the organization to acquire new instruments, to assist financially disadvantaged members and to purchase band attire. Raise money by reaching out to the community to support the band boosters. There are several ways to raise money such as selling frozen-foods or candy, hosting a band concert and placing donation jars around the community.

Pizza Sales

Frozen pizza fundraisers are a way to raise money for the band. You can sell pre-made frozen pizzas or frozen pizza kits. The pre-made pizza is already put together, and just needs to be heated in the oven. Pizza kits consist of the ingredients to construct a pizza and to make it yourself. During the normal two-week fundraising period, band boosters might make a profit of 30 to 60 percent of sales from the pizzas.

Candy Sales

Selling Hershey's, M&M's, Kit Kat, Reese's and Snickers can raise money for the band boosters. Shop around to different candy fundraising companies to find the best deals. Most fundraising companies will compete for the lowest price so vocalize deals with each competitor to find the best profit. Check with local grocery stores and churches to find out if the boosters can set up outside the building for sales. Find customers through school concerts, door-to-door sales and utilize social media to let customers know the boosters are selling candy.

Music Concert

Plan a day-long music concert to raise money for the band. Set up on campus or at a park and host the festival. Concerts can be put on by different sections of the band or have the whole band play the entire time. Ask for donations toward the band in lieu of an admission fee or charge a small admission fee to get into the concert. Set up a concession stand and small souvenir area to sell food and merchandise to support the band.

Pennies for Music

Pennies for Music was the brainchild of a Missouri music teacher. The object of the fundraiser is to collect pennies or change to raise money for music. Purchase donation cans with a band picture on the front. Set up the cans throughout the school or community with a small flyer stating that the money is going to Band Boosters and why the money is needed.
