Many healthcare technology grants see how technology can improve the workflow.
The purpose of health care technology grants is to improve the overall health care system by implementing technological advances. Technological improvements can include adding computers to a given organization, upgrading existing technologies or integrating technology into the management process. These grants are administered by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, and they are generally open to all types of public health care organizations.
Exploratory and Developmental Grant
The Exploratory and Developmental Grant to Improve Health Care Quality Through Health Information Technology is given to organizations looking to either create a pilot program or conduct a feasibility study on the implementation of a technology program. The goals of these grants are to help organizations conduct research and to help organizations determine if the program will work on a larger scale. Research can be done in one of the following three categories: to determine if the integration of IT will improve medication management; to see if IT integration can improve patient care; and to see if IT can improve health care decision-making. Organizations may receive up to $300,000 in funding, and the project must last no more than two years. Eligibility includes non-profit and public institutions, governmental institutions and tribal governments.
