According to the MELISA Foundation, about 4 percent of the people who were tested for a titanium allergy demonstrated a positive result.


Symptom


One of the biggest symptoms of a titanium allergy is chronic fatigue syndrome. Titanium binds to proteins in the body. In people who are allergic to it, the immune system attacks normally healthy structures in the body.

Besides certain candy and toothpaste, titanium can be found in some sunscreens, dental implants, paint, jewelry and cosmetics.


Prevention/Solution


The best prevention of a titanium allergy is to avoid contact with titanium by removing all jewelry and using a non-titanium toothpaste. Titanium allergies are detectable by blood tests.
