Strolling Through the Gardens - Bayou Bend

Bayou Bend, built in 1928, was the private residence for Ima Hogg---a renowned philanthropist and art collector---and her brothers, Will and Mike. Hogg donated her massive collection, which included pieces from 1620 to 1870, as well as the property of Bayou Bend, to the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston in 1957. Today, the well-kept garden still bloom with roses, white Indicia azaleas, blue pansies and wisteria blossoms. Statues of Greek goddesses watch over the gardens, and a butterfly garden is in a forested area of the property---all of which can serve as a setting to mark an anniversary.

Indulging in Fondue - The Melting Pot of Houston

The Melting Pot is a small chain of restaurants that first opened in 1975 in Florida. Back then, it was famous for its simple menu of Swiss cheese fondue, beef fondue and a chocolate fondue dessert. Its popularity quickly grew, and today an evening at the Melting Pot involves a four-course meal where guests can dip into many different fondues and dipping ingredients. It offers an intimate atmosphere with private tables and select wines.
