Check Medicaid
Eligibility
Medicaid is a state-operated, federally and state-funded health insurance program for low-income elderly, disabled individuals, pregnant women and children. You may want to check your Medicaid eligibility if you have recently applied and are curious about the status of the application or if you have an upcoming medical appointment and want to verify that your Medicaid status is active.
Instructions
1. Locate the contact information for your local or state Medicaid office. You may locate this information on the National Association of State Medicaid Directors website (see resources).
2. Gather necessary identifying information that you will need to check your status prior to contacting the Medicaid office. If you have your Medicaid card, you will need to use the number on the front of the card. If you do not have your card, you will need to have your Social Security number ready.
3. Contact the Medicaid office via phone and provide the operator with either your Medicaid number or your Social Security number to verify the status of your Medicaid eligibility.
