Color Hair Blonde Without The Orange

Coloring or bleaching your hair blonde is a two-part process. If you are starting with a darker hair color, the natural colors in your hair will dictate what color it will be after lightening a few shades. Very often after the initial lightening, your hair will be orange in color, especially if you had red hues in your hair to begin with. Once it is lightened, you can perfect the color by using a toner that is the color of your choice. Does this Spark an idea?

Instructions

Going Blonde

1. Select a cream bleach kit that is safe for your scalp. A well known brand is recommended as you know it has been well tested. There are various degrees of strength, from 10 to 40. The higher the number, the stronger the bleach, and the more damage it can do to your hair. The lower numbers will have to be left on longer. If you have a very dark hair color to start with, you will want a higher number. Also select a toner, or the color you would like to have when you are finished.

2. Read the instructions carefully in the bleach kit. Also included in the kit will be developer and bleach, an application bottle, plastic gloves and cap, and possibly a cream rinse.

3. Mix the developer and bleach until it has a smooth consistency. Fill the applicator bottle and make sure the nozzle is on tightly. Ask a friend or family member to help with the application. The bathroom is a good place to bleach your hair as it can be a messy process. Be sure to cover yourself from the neck down with a robe or towel.

4. Apply the bleach with the plastic gloves on, starting with the darkest part of your hair first. Go section by section, applying to the roots last. You do not want to have the bleach touching your scalp for too long. Once your hair is completely saturated, cover your head with the plastic cap and wait the amount of time recommended by the product. Do not leave it on any longer than the recommended time.

5. Rinse your hair thoroughly, making sure not to get anything in your eyes. Wash and condition your hair to be sure the bleach has been completely rinsed out of your hair. At this stage you will notice an orange tint to your hair.

6. Now it is time for the toner, or the blonde color that you have selected. Read the instructions that come with the kit. This should also have an application bottle, the toner itself, gloves, a cap and possibly conditioner.

7. Apply the toner, making sure to cover the entire scalp and hair down to the ends. Leave it on, covered with the cap, for the recommended time, and then rinse completely. Wash and condition your hair again. You should now have your desired color.
