Connect A Sony Hard Disk Recorder To A Computer

Transfer your favorite TV shows and videos to your personal computer.

With a Sony Hard Disk Recorder, you can record your favorite TV shows, transfer video for safekeeping from a Sony Handy Cam, and even use the machine as a digital jukebox. If you would like to transfer video from a Sony Hard Disk Recorder to your personal computer, you can connect the two devices and begin transferring video files within minutes.

Instructions

1. Plug the AC adapter connector into the Sony Hard Disk Recorder. Plug the power cord for the adapter into an electrical outlet.

2. Switch the "Power" switch on the Sony Hard Disk Recorder to the "Computer" position.

3. Plug the small end of the USB cable into the hard disk recorder, then plug the flat, larger end of the cable into an empty USB port on your computer. If you have a Sony desktop or laptop computer with an "i.Link" port or a PC with a Firewire port, use the i.Link cable instead as it provides faster data throughput than a USB cable.

4. Your operating system will detect the Sony Hard Disk Recorder and configure it. You can then browse the folders on the hard disk recorder and copy and paste video files from the unit to your computer.
