Check On Status Of Minnesota Insurance License

The Minnesota Department of Commerce (MDC) licenses all state insurance companies, brokers, agents and adjusters conducting insurance-related activities. The agency has contracted with a private company, Sircon, for the administration of the licensing process. To help protect against the activities of unlicensed insurance professionals, Sircon has created an online tool for consumers to check the license status of all Minnesota insurance professionals and companies. Insurance professionals can also use this tool to check on their license renewal dates.

Instructions

1. Go to the MDC website and click on the "License Lookup Tool" link under the "Online Services" heading on the left side.

2. Select the type of license from the dropdown menu. All MDC-issued licenses are included, five of which are insurance-related. Click on "GO" after you make your selection. You will be redirected to a consumer inquiry page on the Sircon website.

3. Select "Minnesota" from the state dropdown menu and select the entity type.

4. Enter the license number for the entity or the full name of the licensee and click "Submit." For a business, you will need to provide its name and city. The following page will provide you its name, license number and license status.
