Crafts To Do With Foam

Foam has versatile uses in crafting projects.

Foams provide a versatile crafting material which allow many different creative uses. From pattern making to a children's art project, foam does not require specialized crafting materials to be functional. Working with foam requires only a couple of household materials such as wax paper and scissors to complete a craft project.

Pattern Making With Foam

With a foam core and additional crafting materials such as pattern paper, needle and thread, any crafter can re-create her favorite T-shirt with this craft. This project allows crafters to copy their favorite pattern of a T-shirt and shape it into a different knit material. According to Craft Stylish, a light tissue knit would be an ideal fabric choice for the summer. The crafter can use foam core to hold the T-shirt in place while outlining the shape over a pattern paper. Regular wax paper works just as well.

Foam Photo Frame

A child-friendly foam project includes a photo, glue stick, scissors and two pieces of foam. To make a photo frame, draw a shape around the foam and cut out the shape. Taking the second foam, cut a display piece, making sure the foam remains smaller than the photo and has enough space to display the photo. Glue the foam together with a photo between it. Decorate the photo frame as desired. Children can create a hanging photo frame by punching a hole on the top and threading a ribbon around it.
