Plant miniature roses in a sunny location. Avoid planting them under trees or beside shadow-casting plants or buildings. Miniature rose bushes require a minimum of six hours of sunlight per day. If you are growing the rose bush indoors, pick a southern window that provides sufficient direct sunlight to meet the plant's light requirements.

Soil Requirements
Plant miniature roses in 50 percent peat moss, 40 percent garden soil and 10 percent bone meal. Mulch around the base of the plants with 2 to 3 inches of peat moss to help retain water. Avoid rocky areas where roses will not flourish. Ideal soil should have a pH of 6.5.
Fertilizer
Choose a well balanced liquid-soluble fertilizer to apply once every three weeks during growing season. Follow the directions on the manufacturer's label.

If not, purchase commercial pesticides at a home improvement or garden supply store. Follow the manufacturer's instructions. Spider mites can attack the plant in hot weather and form fine webs on the leaves. Control spider mite infestations with regular water washings, or use a commercial miticide and follow the directions on the label.
Pruning
Prune at any time by using a pair of handheld bypass pruners to clip branches that have grown out of control. Remove all dead flower heads as they occur to keep the bush neat and tidy. .
Winter Protection
Supply an ample mulch covering to the base of the plant before the winter freeze occurs. Apply at least 3 inches of peat moss as a mulch. Miniature rose bushes require no other special care to withstand the harshest winter weather.
