Florida's lively Space Coast with its perfect cruising weather is a great place for classic car lovers. Brevard County and nearby Volusia and Martin Counties host a variety of shows and cruises year-round. Once you've checked out a couple of events, you'll discover the clubs, places and people that make it all happen, from local educational and charitable groups to motorcycle clubs and groups of old buddies.
AACA Celebration of Cars
The Antique Auto Club of Cape Canaveral hosts an annual Celebration of Cars at Burton Smith Park near Cocoa, Florida. Awards are given in 17 classes; the day includes a DJ, refreshments and kids' activities. The club also hosts tours, picnics parties and other special events.
Mopars of Brevard Super Swap
Mopars of Brevard holds a large show and swap meet every year with a car corral, vendors, refreshments and celebrity appearances; all makes are welcome, and the show drew 280 display cars in 2010. The day also includes arts and crafts, a bake sale and a display of model cars. The club organizes a packed schedule of charity events, cruises to burger joints and pizza shops, parties and other events.
Strawberry Festival
Brevard County Habitat for Humanity makes classic cars an important part of its annual Strawberry festival celebration in Melbourne. The show is open to all and features Top 40 prizes; dash plaques and goodie bags will be given to the first 150 participants. There's a Kids Corner and automotive vendors, arts and crafts, refreshments, door prizes and raffles.
