Swim laps to burn calories.

Losing weight takes effort and determination. That is especially the case when your goal is to achieve dramatic weight loss results. Losing a large amount of weight takes time. It is hard to keep motivation from flagging. Part of having success in achieving dramatic weight loss results is a significant lifestyle change. A positive attitude, healthy foods and exercise are all components in this change.

Instructions

1. Count and reduce calories. Determine the amount of calories that you need to eat. An online program (see Resources) will help you. Input your height and weight data, along with activity level, and the amount that you should eat to lose weight is calculated. Input the food that you eat daily into the database so that you can keep track.

2. Eat your favorite foods in moderation. Include 100 to 200 calories of your favorite, unhealthy foods each day or even just a few days per week. Even just a few days per week is adequate. By including these foods in your calorie count for the day, you run less risk of feeling deprived and binging on sweets.

3. Eat plenty of protein throughout the day. It keeps you full and contributes to muscle growth. Sources of protein include fish, egg whites and chicken. Eat protein with every meal.

4. Keep your kitchen filled with healthy food and free of sugary snacks. Fill the refrigerator with whole grains, lean meats, fresh fruit and vegetables. To achieve dramatic weight loss results, you must change the way you eat. Eliminating the food from your house makes it easier to avoid temptation.

5. Exercise five days a week for at least 45 minutes at a time. Aerobic exercise and weight training are both vital for dramatic weight loss results. Aerobic exercise includes jogging and swimming. Build muscle via weight lifting two times per week. Muscle changes the look of the body and also burns more calories at rest, which contributes to weight loss.
