Apply For A Fbi Agent Job

The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) is a federal law enforcement agency headquartered in Washington, DC with several field offices across the United States. The FBI acts as "the principal investigative arm of the United States Department of Justice" and "has the authority and responsibility to investigate specific crimes assigned to it." Therefore, the FBI offers a wide variety of employment opportunities including, but not limited to, Special Agent positions and Linguist positions. Those possessing skills in these and other areas may apply for FBI positions online through the FBIjobs.gov website.

Instructions

1. Visit the homepage of USAjobs.gov to create a USAjobs.gov account.

USAjobs.gov is a federal job search engine that contains a list of all federal employment opportunities. Most, if not all, federal agencies, including the FBI, require job applicants to use USAjobs.gov. Creating a USAjobs.gov account is important because applicants wanting to apply for jobs listed on FBIjobs.gov must do so through their USAjobs.gov account.

2. Click on the "Create Account" button under the "Become a USAJOBS Member" section on the USAjobs.gov page. Enter your personal information on the next page, choose your USAjobs.gov username and password, and then agree to the terms and conditions by clicking on the "I agree. Log me in" button. You have created a USAjobs.gov account.

3. Visit the FBIjobs.gov page and click on the "Apply Now" link under the "Special Agents" section of the page.

4. Enter your five-digit zip code under the "Apply for a Job as an FBI Agent" section and select the "Go" button. Your local FBI office information will appear, as well as an "Apply now" button. Click on the button. You will see a USAjobs.gov page containing more information about the Special Agent opportunity.

5. Apply for the Special Agent position by clicking on the "Apply Now" button, creating a USAjobs.gov federal resume, and then submitting your application. You will receive an e-mail from the FBI confirming the receipt of your application.

6. Wait to hear from your local FBI office to find out if you are eligible to continue to the next stage of the application process, Phase One Testing. Depending on the workload of your local FBI office, it may take several weeks before you hear back from your local FBI office.
