Homemade Olive Oil Scar Fading Cream Recipe

Olive Oil Has Skin Healing Properties.

Scarring due to acne, wounds and surgeries can make you feel uncomfortable, especially if the scar is on your face or another visible area. Instead of purchasing expensive, chemically processed scar-fading creams, try using extra virgin olive oil. Olive oil contains antioxidants called polyphenols that help repair damaged areas of the skin. Make your own olive oil-based creams to help fade embarrassing scars. Does this Spark an idea?

Olive Oil Cream and Ointment

The key to creating a cream out of olive oil is thickening it by creating an emulsion. An emulsion is created when two substances that do not mix, such as oil and water, are combined and refrigerated. Oils from fat, the water from the condensation, and the temperature in the refrigerator combine to create an emulsion. Try pouring about 50 percent extra virgin olive oil and 50 percent water into a glass bowl and put it in the refrigerator overnight. This will create a mayonnaise-like cream that helps fade scars when applied topically.

Also, create olive oil ointments using beeswax. Heat about 1 pint of olive oil and about 1 ½ oz. beeswax on the stove, stirring constantly. Once it is completely melted, let the mixture cool. When it is cool enough to touch, poke your finger into the mixture. If it is too runny--if it does not have the consistency of petroleum jelly--heat the mixture again and add more wax. You can also add essential oils like lavender and chamomile, which help reduce redness and irritation. Vitamin E is also one of the most-tested remedies for scar treatment. Poke a hole in a Vitamin E capsule with a needle and squeeze the oil into the mixture while it is hot.

Other Techniques

Make an olive oil face mask by mixing olive oil with pure clay mud and a little bit of avocado. The result should be a thick paste that is easy to spread onto your skin. The key is to add olive oil to the clay slowly until you have a paste that is runny enough to spread on your skin but thick enough not to drip. Rub the paste all over your face.

When applying olive oil to the skin to fade scars, rub the oil directly into the scar a few times every day without any additional ingredients. Make sure you are using extra virgin olive oil. Many stores sell virgin olive oil and combination canola and virgin olive oil, which are diluted. Purchasing 100 percent pure organic extra virgin olive oil and storing it in the refrigerator when not in use is the best option.
