Contact A Celebrity For An Interview

If you are creating an article or journalistic piece, you may need to get an interview with a celebrity as part of your content. However, to get an interview with a celebrity you must have the correct media credentials. This means that you must be creating the content for a professional publication. If you are a freelance writer, you can still get an interview with a celebrity, but you must be creating the article for a publication.

Instructions

1. Speak to the editor of the publication for which you wish to create the content. Present her with your experience, qualifications and your article idea. Ask the editor to present you with the necessary credentials such as a name badge and the publication's email address.

2. Visit the website of the celebrity you want to interview. Click on the "Contact" button on the site. Find the name of the publicist who handles media requests and contact him via email.

3. Send an email to the publicist stating who you are and the publication for which you are creating the content. State the idea you are pitching for the article and why you would like to speak to the celebrity. Wait for a reply. If the celebrity is extremely popular, you may not receive a reply for quite some time.

4. Contact the editor if you have not received a reply from the publicist after one or two weeks. Ask her to contact the publicist as sometimes an editor's reputation and media contacts are more reputable and will carry more clout.

5. Contact the publicist by phone, if possible. Speaking directly to the celebrity's publicist allows the publicist to gain insight into your personality and intentions. Be friendly and professional.

6. Prepare for the interview in advance as you may be required to conduct it on short notice. Plan to ask your most important questions first as you may only have time for a quick phone interview. Arrange an in-person interview, if possible. Be ready for the interview at the time and date the publicist has specified. Plan to be there at least 15 minutes before the interview.
