Homemade Secret Sister Gifts

A homegrown bouquet will make your Secret Sister feel special.

Secret Sisters is a program in which women support one another through prayer and encouragement. For several weeks or months, Secret Sisters anonymously exchange affirmative messages and gifts. Every woman in the program knows she has a Secret Sister who is thinking of her and praying for her. The Secret Sister program ends with a banquet or luncheon where each woman reveals her identity to her Secret Sister. During the program, Secret Sisters give each other anonymous gifts by leaving them at a specified location or by delivering them to a designated individual who distributes them among the group.

Baked Goods

Tasty homemade treats for your Secret Sister are even more special when you deliver them in a pretty bag or box. Cookies, bite-sized brownies and fudge will sustain your Secret Sister physically while you nourish her spiritually with prayer.

Homemade Card

Use readily available paper items to make your Secret Sister a homemade "thinking of you" card. Ask a friend or family member to write out your message if you think your Secret Sister might recognize your handwriting.

Framed Verse

Choose an encouraging Bible verse, such as John 16:33, Isaiah 41:10 or I Peter 5:7, and use a word processor to center the verse on the page in an attractive font. Print the verse on high quality paper and frame it in an inexpensive frame from the dollar store. You can also make your own frame by mounting the printed verse on cardboard, cutting a top frame from cardboard and gluing the frame to the printed verse.

Bible Bookmark

Your Secret Sister can use a homemade bookmark to keep track of her favorite Bible verse or to mark a particular scripture passage for a Bible study group or next Sunday's sermon. A bookmark is easy to make; simply cut a long rectangle from cardboard and decorate it with rubber stamps, hand-drawn designs or pictures cut from magazines. Add a tassel or dangle a charm from one end to add a special touch.

Homegrown Gifts

If you know for certain that your Secret Sister will be at church next Sunday, delight her with a bouquet of homegrown culinary herbs or flowers. Tie the bouquet with a ribbon and leave it in a paper cup filled with water so it will stay fresh for your Secret Sister. Send your Secret Sister an anonymous card or email during the week to let her know that a perishable gift awaits her.
